Check the batteries on the thermostat to first find out if the thermostat is functioning properly. If it is not working, try replacing the batteries and readjust the thermostat. If it is still not working, the next step would be to call a professional to investigate/evaluate the equipment.

  - Nowadays, smaller furnaces are used to comply with new insulating standards, depending on which area you are located. If you are located near Markham, Scarborough, North York, Mississauga, Toronto, or anywhere near areas of Ontario, you will likely have to comply to these standards.

Anything up to 40,000 BTU – 120,000 BTU are the general sizes for residential homes (2000 – 4000 sq ft).

The cost of repairing a furnace depends on the age of the furnace. If it is older than 10 years, we recommend replacing it with a new one. However, if it is under 10 years, we can fix it through a service request depending on the issues it has during the diagnostic/evaluation. It could be either broken/damaged, or have leakage from previous older equipment, or just need a tune up. Different rates for each case but ultimately you will need a replacement if it is damaged.

The total installation for furnace repairs of old and new equipment would typically be in the range of around $4,000 – $6,000 for residential homes.

Unfortunately, unless you are a licensed gas technician/fitter, you will not be able to install a furnace with the right provincial installation code. Although it is not technically illegal for any homeowner to install a furnace by themselves, you must have a licensed gas fitter sign off on the installation and ensure it fulfills the TSSA safety standards & gas regulation codes.
